Our approach

In certain clinical situations, such as tooth extractions, mucogingival grafting, aesthetic dentistry, implants or other, surgery is necessary.

Thanks to the minimally-invasive surgery technique, which was designed and developed by Dr. Mura throughout decades of experience, we are able to offer very high-quality surgical methods, therefore reducing stress and healing times for our patients.

Furthermore, the non-invasiveness and versatility of the technique allows us to adapt to the needs and sensitivities of each individual patient during surgery.

Frequently asked questions

When is an extraction complex?
Extractions are complicated by bony inclusion and the anatomical proximity of teeth to the maxillary sinus or to the inferior alveolar nerve, such as with impacted wisdom teeth. In these cases, a careful clinical assessment and a cone beam CT radiographic examination are required. A 3D projection shows us the exact position of the tooth in the bone, allowing us to accurately plan the surgical procedure. Studio Mura is equipped with a cone beam CT and has been a reference point for these procedures for many years.
What is a gingival smile?
Also called a “gummy smile”, it is a smile disharmony caused by a short lip that exposes the gums, making them appear too long compared to the teeth. This asymmetry compromises the aesthetics of a smile.
Can a gingival smile be improved?
Sì. Con una accurata pianificazione chirurgico-estetica è possibile dare armonia e gradevolezza al sorriso.
Through what method can a gingival smile be improved?
By surgically harmonizing the gums and applying veneers to the teeth.
What is periodontology?
It is a branch of dentistry that deals with periodontal disease (periodontitis, or “pyorrhea”, and gingivitis). At Studio Mura, we are concerned with preventing periodontal disease in our patients. At Studio Mura, those who need treatment will find excellent professional oral hygiene techniques and gum grafting.
How does one get periodontal disease?
Periodontitis is caused by bacteria that colonize bacterial plaque and infiltrate the gum grooves around the base of the teeth, first creating inflammation, then a recession of the gum tissue and of the bone that supports the tooth, compromising its stability.
Can periodontitis be treated?
Initially, when it manifests with gum inflammation and bleeding, it is treated with professional oral hygiene sessions and homecare techniques to remove the bacterial plaque that causes periodontal disease (pyorrhea).
How can periodontitis be treated in more severe cases?
When necessary, we intervene surgically on the bone and on the gingival supporting tissues. Surgery aims at restoring compromised teeth and correcting tissue deficits (gingival grafts, bone regeneration).
What are mucogingival grafts?
When periodontitis (pyorrhea) has caused the tissue that supports the teeth, gums, and bone to recess, we cover exposed roots with gingival grafts, both to stop recession, as well as to protect the roots and eliminate root sensitivity.
What is conscious sedation?
It is the administration of medication that relaxes the patient by eliminating anxiety and fear while allowing the patient to maintain a conscious, cooperative state.
Who administers conscious sedation?
Our anesthesiologist, a medical specialist, visits the patient before sedation, assesses if the intervention is necessary, then monitors the patient during the procedure (monitoring oxygen saturation, heart rate, and blood pressure), and assists the patient before, during, and after sedation.
Is conscious sedation risky?
No, it is a safe and widely-used procedure.
